Unless you are. In which case, go on about your business. I’ll just share two for now; there will be more down the road.

“The New Adventures of Old Christine” (CBS - Mondays at 8:30(?))
If you described this as an Elaine spinoff you wouldn’t be far off. Julia Louis-Dreyfus has the Elaine character deeply etched in her psyche and that ain’t bad. This is a very formulaic sitcom minus the workplace set. JL-D plays Christine, a neurotic mother and ex-wife (her husband married another Christine, hence the New/Old joke in the show name). The supporting cast is there to get Christine the laughs, but they work really well. Casting Wanda Sykes alongside J-LD was a stroke of casting genius. This show will make you laugh hard.

“Supernatural” (CW - Thursdays at 9)
If you’re a fan of comic books and fantasy/sci-fi, and you’re not watching this because it is on the CW, and the CW is for teenagers, then you’re missing out. You probably think the formula for this one has the two hunky monster hunters (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, playing brothers Sam and Dean Winchester) running around shirtless and kissing buxom young maidens at every turn. In reality, they rarely even remove their leather jackets. And while every mystery does seem to involve a nubile young coed in some way, the boys are played as sexually frustrated and isolated loners with no time to even watch sports let alone carve out time for the ladies. Losers. Anyway, the straight ahead excitement and dark humor of this show make for an incredibly fun hour.

I agree. The New Adventures of Old Christine is pretty fantastic and really well directed (it’s hard to notice those things with sitcoms but trust me it is). They just wrapped production last week and the final episode of the season promises to be … great.

Supernatural … really? I watched the first episode and … does it get better?

you watched the effect with the fire and the mom on the ceiling and you weren’t hooked? that was the scariest thing i think i’ve ever seen on tv.

How funny was Dave Foley on “Christine” this week? I hope he becomes a regular character.
