SciFi channel extends Battlestar season 4

Today TV Week is reporting that SciFi Channel has extended the order for Battlestar Galactica’s fourth season to 22 episodes. I didn’t know until I read this writeup that the season order would include the planned movie which will be shot this summer and go straight to DVD.
The obvious worry for fans is that the extension gives SciFi the flexibility to get producers to wrap up the show with season 4. I don’t think this is confirmation that this will happen, but it is probably very likely that SciFi wanted that ace in its pocket if ratings continue to be low.
I’m still wondering how they will make good on their promise that one character will find Earth this season (this was promised in promos for the second half of the season which is on now). I definitely think Colonel Tigh’s phantom radio signal is being transmitted from Earth, and that they will figure this out and that’s how they’ll “find” earth. But who will be the Cylon?
