UPDATE: This was our 100th post!

The actual nomination list is notoriously hard to get because they always just dump the entire list, which buries the major ones toward the middle of the bottom. I’m reading from here. My thoughts after the jump…

  • 4 nominations for “Battlestar Galactica”!! No major ones, but a nod to the directing and the technical execution on that show.
  • In my life, I will never understand “Two and a Half Men.” If a standard sitcom show gets any play, it should be “Christine.”
  • Ditto “Boston Legal.” WTF
  • I neglected to do my hopes for supporting people. I’d love Neil Patrick Harris to pick up a win for playing Barney on “How I Met Your Mother.” Man, if “Big Bang Theory” is anywhere near as good as it could be, and CBS still doesn’t shine on Monday nights, then I just don’t know what.

Yeesh, the supporting actress comedy field is a major snoozefest. I suppose Jaime Pressly is the funniest in the bunch. Jenna Fischer, for reals? Really? Really.

  • Now I enjoy “Entourage” plenty. It is fun to watch most of the time. After a shaky start, seasons 1 and 2 really hooked me. But I don’t think I’ve laughed more than 5 or 6 times at that show. I suppose nominating it for best comedy and then highlighting Kevin Dillon and (ugh) Jeremy Piven points out that it’s really those 2 who make it at all funny. But come on, that is not a good comedy series. I actually gave up watching it after the Kevin Dillon-Pauly Shore “Punk’d” episode because I couldn’t watch another minute but I definitely will pick up season 3 on DVD and fight through several hours of Turtle.
  • That being said, any time Martin Landau is on TV he deserves an Emmy. They just don’t make actors like they used to.
  • Lauren Graham and “Gilmore Girls” got snubbed, which surprised no-one. Two minor noms for “Friday Night Lights” is a bummer for the hardest working cast in show business. I just coined that and I’m going to do what I can to make it stick. They did get a cast nomination so that’s good.
  • Ricky Gervais, Dennis Leary, Julia L-D, Sally Field, “30 Rock,” “Sopranos” are my current hope votes. My think votes are Steve Carell, James Gandolfini, America Ferrera, Sally Field, “Ugly Betty,” and “The Sopranos.”
  • “Heroes” for best drama? You gotta be freakin kidding me.

Anyone else have thoughts?

HBO’s “The Wire” is the best thing on TV and it doesn’t get any emmy love. How “Heroes” got nominated over “Lost”, especially after that horrible finale I’ll never know. I suspect payola.
