Grim word today that Veronica Mars is “out of hope” at The CW.
All we have left to hope for is that Rob Thomas can find a way to wrap up the series well next week. Fortunately he has 2 hours. I’m hoping that they will work in part of the season 4 tester they produced to try to keep this from happening. Big finish and then wham, fast forward 4 years and hopefully tell us what everyone is doing.
Incidentally I thought this week’s was great. Dick telling off Daddy Casablancas was something I did not see coming and was really well done.
But still. Fuck!!
UPDATE: Or is it? The Hollywood Reporter reports that CW still hasn’t decided on the proposed “Veronica Mars, F.B.I.” reinvented series. I guess they are looking at that as a separate series rather than an extension of the current one. So the current series doesn’t appear even as a mid-season replacement but CW could possibly bring in the new/reinvented/sequel/spinoff as a midseason replacement.

UPDATE after seeing the episode: Eh. Honestly, if that episode was supposed to start the push to get this show renewed I think it might deserve to get canned.
You’ve read in this space how much of a fan I am of the “Veronica Mars” show. Well, it comes back from a long hiatus tonight and I implore all of you, fans and non-watchers alike, to tune in tonight and throughout the rest of the season. The show’s fate is so up in the air at this point (though Kristin says it is still not canceled), newcomers will benefit from the next few episodes which will either all be stand-alone episodes (no big plot arcs you’ll have missed) or will have one arc to carry out the season.
That’s tonight on the CW at 9:00 p.m. Be there or be an 0-9er..

Via Ain’t It Cool News, some not so cool news for “Veronica Mars” fans… An April 12 USA Today “Save Our Shows” piece puts V in the “Gone or nearly dead” column. A list that has historically been pretty accurate seems like it would be the final nail in the coffin, but AICN’s Hercules reminds fans that “Mars” pulled out a double billing in E! Online’s “Save One Show” poll masterminded by Kristin Veitch.
I’m going to go ahead and let my fanhood completely cloud my vision and make a bold declaration that “Mars” will indeed make it through to the fall sched. If creator Rob Thomas put half of the effort into the featurette that he created to persuade CW to reupp a made-over “Mars” that he put into the pilot that CW was smart enough to greenlight in the first place, I think they’d be fools to turn it down.
Besides, they’d have to mess with Neptune’s bad boy if they did…

No, I don’t mean that Logan gets homicidally jealous after seeing her with Piz… Kristin Veitch of E! now puts Veronica Mars in the category of “Looking Doomed” for a return in the Fall. I think Kristin Bell probably would want to die if VM gets canceled and part of the reason is the success of its midseason replacement, The Pussycat Dolls: The Search for the Next Doll.
While you’re pondering this, hop on the FREE WALLACE bandwagon…

You know, I think there probably should be more spinoffs. What is the last good spinoff you can think of. And I’m going to declare right now that CSI: Miami doesn’t count. It has to be a character from one show “gettting her own show.”
Like the planned ABC spinoff of ”Grey’s Anatomy” starring Kate Walsh’s Dr. Addison Montgomery-Sheppard. Wait a minute, was I just advocating on behalf of that? I was the very first “Grey’s” fan, but about the 10th time I heard the name “McDreamy” I realized that I had created a monster.
Anyways, word today is that Chris Lowell, Piz on “Veronica Mars,” has been cast on that spinoff. So I guess we know what LoVe / Piz = … (You had to be there.)

New BLUE MAG, new Don Zacharias. Against my better judgment I’m going to go ahead and tell you that one of my favorite shows over the last few years has been “Gilmore Girls.” I’m sure there has to be one or two other men out there who have watched and enjoyed this show. If you’re out there, email me offline and we can band together. To go off in search of our testicles. Badda bing!
But seriously, if you were never forced to watch this by you lady friend then you wouldn’t have had the pleasure of getting hooked on it after a few episodes and it’s not on you radar now, in what will probably be its final season (mere speculation on my part). You’re probably more likely to be a fan of its Tuesday companion on The CW, the excellent “Veronica Mars.”
